My brother and sister-in-law are expecting a boy in the summer of 2015. I have no other nieces or nephews so this is very exciting to me and I'm thrilled I did not get stuck with the boy and can just enjoy one from an aunt perspective.

So are they planning on breastfeeding at all? When I first moved to China, I was 4 months along with Raelynn and I was fortunate enough to meet some expats who introduced me to the La Leche League leader in our area. She's since moved but she forever changed our lives. She came to the hospital right after Raelynn was born and helped me get her latched on. She also speaks fluent Chinese and was able to speak to Jeremy in his native language about everything breastfeeding. The result was that my husband was my biggest supporter during those breastfeeding days and of course still is now as I'm feeding Seoul. My parents bought me one container of formula from the states when I was pregnant with Raelynn just in case there were any issues with breastfeeding. They also bought some BPA-free bottles so that I could safely have someone else feed her if I pumped. That was the extent of feeding items. Fortunately, MIL did not try to force any extra items onto Raelynn. I complain about her a lot but she does do some things right, and I guess I should be thrilled it involved one of the most important things of all.JQhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17398355557660230873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2287572224300306186.post-50429430200493098762014-12-09T03:57:30.506-08:002014-12-09T03:57:30.506-08:00On the plus side, I guess it made you and I each a...On the plus side, I guess it made you and I each appreciate our MIL's cooking, huh? LOL! My husband is a good cook so he's restored my faith in Chinese food. There are some good dishes to be had, if the right people prepare them. Do you know what he said to me? He said, "But my mom has been cooking for much longer than me." SO??? That doesn't mean dick. See, I used to write for an ad agency and one of my bosses was the most talentless hack I'd ever seen. I kept my opinion to myself and was astonished to discover I was not the only person who felt this way. And that guy had been writing for much longer than most of us. So experience doesn't mean anything if you suck ass during your experience. It just makes you suck for longer. Sh...BIL's wife is expecting a baby any day now. She had a bunch of packages delivered to our house when BIL was in the area for a business trip. I was amazed at the items which were all related to feeding: tons of bottles, different kinds of nipples, feeding devices I've never even heard of, weird vitamin drops, liquid calcium, protein powder...and on and on. It's like she didn't even think of breast feeding at all and is clearly obsessed with solid feeding even though the baby isn't born yet and shouldn't generally be starting solids until 4-6 months.. They seem to think anything that comes from a factory must be better. When BIL was visiting, our CSA (community supported agriculture) box was delivered. He thought it was the strangest thing he'd ever seen. He couldn't grasp why someone might want to eat locally grown vegetables.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09211691412408934332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2287572224300306186.post-82455030163979864902014-12-08T12:00:47.522-08:002014-12-08T12:00:47.522-08:00I dont know why but each time we ate at friends pl...I dont know why but each time we ate at friends place who had their MIL over (or own mom) I felt like running away when seeing the food they brewed up and then like dieing after eating it. Each time it was really bad. I mean I thought my MIL's food was already not that great but after eating others it appeared that she is making the best food in the world!
it might be also that I am just used to too good food by my wife :pAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
